Built by Many: Art as a Common Thread by Tracy Weil, explores how artists, communities, and civic forces collectively shape the cultural identity of a place, told through a graphic-novel-inspired narrative.
The project will unfold across eight large-scale paintings, each representing a chapter in the lifecycle of a creative district—from vacant spaces and gathering to growth, conflict, transformation, and how it ultimately evolves.
To be completed in 2027/2028, the work will create a visual record of cultural infrastructure being built by many, with art serving as the common thread connecting people, place, and time.
